Akufo-Addo Son-in-Law Hits BOST Supply Jackpot

President Nana Akufo-Addo is once more the subject of alleged nepotistic corruption, as the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), reveals that state oil storage company, BOST, was dispossessed of a supply contract just so it could be awarded to a company owned by the President’s brother-in-law.

According to a cataloguing of President Akufo-Addo’s many acts of nepotism by the NDC’s Sammy Gyamfi, BOST no longer supplies finished petroleum products to state owned entities like Ghana Oil (GOIL), TOR and VRA because the supply contract has been transferred to Stratcon Energy.

Stratcon Energy is owned by the husband of Adeline Akufo-Addo, daughter of President Akufo-Addo’s brother, Edward ‘Bumpty’ Akufo-Addo.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, the robbing of BOST to pay Stratcon Energy, by the orchestration of President Akufo-Addo happened in 2017, the very year that Akufo-Addo became President.

Interestingly, Startcon Energy was an upstart company that had been formed in the same year that it was given BOST’s supply contract (2017), suggesting that it was formed solely for the purpose of dispossessing BOST of the contract.

The NDC has said Stratcon Energy supplanting BOST this way is part of the Akufo-Addo family’s ongoing blatant state capture.

Since replacing BOST, Stratcon Energy has been discharging the lucrative contract of supplying finished petroleum products to state agencies including the Volta River Authority (VRA), GOIL, Tema Oil Refinery and even BOST itself.

Already President Akufo-Addo is reported to have allocated millions of cedis to a brother of his, Paul Amoako-Atta, to prospect for bauxite on the Nyinahini bauxite mine concession originally owned by Exton Cubic, a company associated with former President Mahama’s younger brother, Ibrahim Mahama.

Again President Akufo-Addo is said to have directed the Ghana Infrastructure and Investment Fund (GIIF), a public fund established to pool money for infrastructural projects, to gitransferve funds his brother-in-law, Dr. Kwame Nyantakyi Owusu.

The money is to go into a private hotel project that Dr. Nyantakyi Owusu, who is the husband of a sister of First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, is undertaking at the Airport City area in Accra. According to Sammy Gyamfi who had made the revelation during the 6th edition of the NDC’s ‘Moment of Truth’ series, the President ordered the allocation in 2018.
