Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has given the boot to one of his aides Manaf Ibrahim who contested for a parliamentary seat and also sued the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Ibrahim who was the Director of Political Affairs at the Vice President’s Secretariat was hacked off his position through a letter issued to him on Monday, September 30, 2019, and has been asked to keep mum on whatever confidential information he may have.
“I have been directed to inform you that
your appointment as Director of Political Affairs at the Vice President’s
Secretariat has been terminated effective 30th September
2019. Notwithstanding the termination, you are still under the obligation
of confidentiality that you signed during your employment. Please arrange for
the rectum of all official equipment, property, and documents in your
possession,” Augustine Blay, the Executive Secretary to Dr. Bawumia wrote
in the sack letter.
“I will like to thank you for your service during your period of
employment,” the letter issued to a stunned Manaf Ibrahim stated.
Manaf has sued the party over what he
says was an unfair treatment meted out to him by the party when he decided to
contest the Asawase parliamentary seat in the Ashanti Region on the party’s
ticket.
Manaf
Ibrahim, in mid-September, slapped an injunction from the Kumasi High Court on
the NPP in an attempt to restrain the party from going ahead with a plan to
elect one Alidu Seidu as the sole contender for the Asawase seat.
The NPP Vetting Committee had disqualified Ibrahim from the contest leaving
Alidu Seidu, the Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive as the sole
contender.
