Approximately 10 contractors working on cocoa roads in the Central Region have been asked to resume work on their project, following a stoppage caused by lack of funds for the roads.
Some of the roads include the Cape Coast-Twifo Praso road which connects to important commercial and agricultural nerve centre of the region. It also leads to the popular Kakum National Park-the most visited tourists’ site in the country.
Regional Director of the Ghana Highway Authority, Samuel Kwasi Akuaku was recently updating the public on the status of road projects in the Region at the Central Regional Coordinating Council Meeting in Cape Coast.
The Cocoa roads project which began under the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration was suspended in July 2017 by COCOBOD under the Akufo-Addo led government, over discrepancies and financial irregularities in the awards of some of the contracts.
