Ghana’s Coronavirus Infections Is Now 1,154

The country’s coronavirus infection caseload is officially confirmed as 1,154, up from the last case count of 1042.

Out of the infections, 120 persons have fully recovered while 9 have died.

The update was given this morning at a public briefing on the Coronavirus pandemic in Accra by Dr. Patrick Aboagye, head of the Ghana Health Service.

“Under the general surveillance, as at the 20th of April, we have 401 cases that reported as positive. We still have the 115 travelers who were quarantined, that is still 115. Through the enhanced contact tracing in the last three weeks, we have about 638 positives bringing the number to 1154 cases as at today.

“Out of this, we have had about 120 of them having recovered,” Dr. Aboagye said.

He gave the breakdown of the recoveries as follows; “82 have come from Ga East; UGMC has reported about 17 recoveries, Ridge has 3 people recovered, the 37 Military Hospital has recorded 4 recoveries, Tema General Hospital 1, Ashanti Region has 6, Wa has 1 and Tamale has 6 cases reported.”

A total of 1,021 people who got infected, including those who are asymptomatic, he said, are responding to treatment as well. “Of those who are well and responding to treatment, including those who are asymptomatic, that comes around 1,021 accounting for about 88.5%.”

Ghana has one of the highest coronavirus infection prevalence in Africa.
