Akufo Addo Gov’t Spreading Covid-19 With Mass Food Distribution

The Akufo Addo administration’s curious plan to mass up “the vulnerable” in communities across the country daily in the guise of distributing food to them is potentially spreading the dreaded Covid-19 coronavirus in Ghana, Whatsup News can report.

The government had caused the passage of important Executive Instruments that decrees social distancing and ban on mass gatherings in a bid to contain the spread of the dreaded Covid-19 disease in the country. However, on a daily basis, government agencies and ruling party agents throw caution to the air and gathering thousands of people in communities across the country to distribute cooked foods to them.

Whatsup News has seen several videos of including one from the Kwadaso in Kumasi where hundreds of people were teased out of their homes to go scramble for the government food. Yet, reports received indicates that the Kwadaso area had already recorded two cases of community transmission of Covid-19.

A few days ago, President Akufo Addo announced an extension of the Covid-19 lockdown across the country and also the ban on mass gathering of not more than 25 people at a location. This announcement was made while his government’s agencies were massing up thousands of people to scramble for the government’s free food programme.

Government agencies such as the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) have all been captured in amateur videos overseeing floods of people falling over themselves to grab a bowl of the government-sponsored food.

The Ghana Health Services (GHS) has confirmed that over 57 per cent of the 566 Covid-19 cases confirmed in Ghana were spread via community contagion and not by people with travel records, as critics warn that the mass food distribution by the government is going to be a catalyst that will cause an explosion of Covid-19 cases and deaths in Ghana.

The Akufo Addo government says it is spending some GHC 2 million daily to distribute cooked food to thousands of people massed up for the freebies.
