Seychelles Begins 21 Day Lockdown This Dawn

The Government in Seychelles has announced it is locking down the country for 21 days starting this dawn, as containment measure for the deadly Coronavirus.

The decision follows the country recording a new infection after its first two coronavirus patients had fully recovered.

A 26-year-old Seychellois, who works as a ground handling staff at the country’s international airport, tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.

The country’s case count so far remains 11.

President Danny Faure told the island nation on Monday that the airport will remain closed until the end of April while new maritime surveillance will be deployed.

The first Seychellois to test positive for coronavirus was recorded in March, 14. the following day, a Dutch woman also tested positive.

They have both since recovered from the disease, the president said.
