Executive Management of the National Health Insurance
Authority (NHIA) is strictly implementing government’s directives aimed at
curtailing the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Authority is putting in place stopgap arrangements at the
District, Regional and Head Offices to ensure the safety of all staff, NHIS
members and the general public.
In that regard, District and Regional offices are to use
hand-held thermometer guns to take the temperature of all staff and visitors
at the main entrance.
A statement from the Chief Executive of NHIA, Dr. Lydia
Dsane-Selby, directs that all persons with temperatures recording above
38°C should not be allowed to enter the office premises, but
should be isolated and attended to by designated officer(s).
The District and Regional offices are also to provide hand
washing soap with water, alcohol based hand sanitizers and paper tissues at
the entrance of the offices for use by staff and visitors.
Authorized officers at the District and Regional offices will
administer the COVID-19 screening tool and, if need be, will contact the
relevant authorities.
It is expected that Staff who have returned from a
COVID-19 Country or contacted infected person(s) would mandatorily undergo
self-quarantine for 14 days and provide proof of travel and/or contact with
the infected person(s).Also, Staff are encouraged to practice good
respiratory hygiene by covering nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing as
well as washing hands with soap.
