Another juju scandal hits Kotoko

Kwaku Obeng alias Maestro, a journalist with Accra-based Asempa FM has made some sensational allegations against the playing body of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, accusing the players of working against themselves spiritually.

Maestro on Monday, February 24 made some startling revelations of how players of Kotoko are spiritually plotting the downfall of each other which is affecting the club.

According to Maestro who appeared to be shielding the coach and management from the club’s poor performance, some players who are unhappy with the competition in the team have resorted to spiritual means to cause injuries to some of their colleagues.

Kwaku Obeng who backed his claims with no evidence avowed that he has been informed by a source close to Kotoko that the players are using ‘juju’ to destroy their careers.

His comments which comes on the back of Kotoko’s FA Cup exit to Asokwa Deportivo sought to unravel the mystery behind the club’s recent slump.

He asserted that as a result of the situation in the Kotoko camp, ten first team players are currently sidelined with injuries.

He mentioned the injuries to defender Wahab Adams and midfielder Mudasiru as the handiwork of the ‘juju operators’.

He claimed that the reason forward William Opoku has struggled to impress at the club is because his talent has been hanged in the spiritual realm.

“Kotoko have quality players but I can say on authority that the players are their own enemies. This used to happen sometime ago but it has started again. The players are doing juju against each other. The players are working against each other”.

“For example, they brought some young midfielder called Mudasiru. The boy is very good but he gets injured after every game. You remember against Hearts of Oak he was playing well until he got injured and stretched off because of the competition in the midfield. Adams Wahab’s leg got swollen like a ball of banku a day after their game against Hearts”.

“They brought Sam Adams and he has never been the same since playing against Medeama. Justice Blay has been sick for some time now. Do you know how Kwame Baah got the nod over Felix Annan. The players are causing the downfall of Kotoko with the juju. We should not underrate the juju in their team”. A management member of Kotoko who spoke on the show vehemently rejected the claims by the journalist.

Nana Kwame Dankwa said that injuries are part of the game and not because of some juju.

“I don’t believe that there is juju. Injuries are part of the game and we are aware how all the players got injured. I’m pleading with everyone not to peddle such falsehood. Let’s remain committed to the objectives of the club”.
