NDC MP Annoh Dompreh ‘Eats Humble Pie’ as Mahama Claims Presidential Victory

Accustomed to Power, President John Dramani Mahama’s Return to Presidency Leaves Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP Annoh Dompreh Surprised

MP Annoh Dompreh, known for his skepticism regarding John Dramani Mahama’s political career, admits to underestimating the president’s potential resurgence after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured a significant victory in the recent general election.

In a candid interview on Kwabena Anokye Adisi’s ‘Starr Chat’ show, Dompreh concedes his disbelief in Mahama’s bid for the presidency, attributing his doubt to the president’s previous term and public perception. Despite facing backlash for urging NPP members to confront their NDC counterparts, the minority chief whip acknowledges the unpredictability of Mahama’s landslide victory.

Reflecting on the outcome, Dompreh emphasizes the role of divine intervention in defying expectations, stating, “I never thought President Mahama will be president again.” The widespread support for Mahama, evident in his commanding win with over 56% of valid votes and a significant parliamentary majority, marks a notable comeback for the president.

Having previously lost to former President Akufo-Addo, Mahama’s triumph underscores the transformative power of resilience in defying political odds and securing a second term in office.
