Government today, Wednesday February 5, unveiled the first batch of deputy minister nominees to the Speaker of Parliament for vetting by the Appointments Committee led by Bernard Ahiafor.
Among the 13 nominees is law expert Justice Srem-Sai from the University of Ghana, nominated to support Attorney General Dominic Ayine. MP for Tamale North and former Radio Gold host, Alhassan Shaibu Suhuyini, is up for the Roads and Highways Ministry alongside Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza.
Dr Clement Apaak, MP for Builsa South, has been named as the Education deputy minister designate under Haruna Iddrisu. Actor-turned-MP John Sector Dumelo, who secured his seat in a historic win, will serve as the deputy Food and Agriculture minister to Eric Opoku.
Other nominees include Thomas Nyarko Ampem, MP for Asuogyaman, as the deputy Finance minister with Cassiel Ato Baah Forson. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi is set to take the deputy minister role for the Interior Ministry while Richard Gyan-Mensah will serve in the Energy and Green Transition Ministry under John Abu Jinapor.
Also on the list are former youth organizer Ernest Brogya Genfi for Defence Minister and Yussif Sulemana for Lands and Natural Resources. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah is appointed as the deputy minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.
MP for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Tettey-Agbotui, will be the deputy minister for Works, Housing, and Water Resources. Additionally, Yussif Issaka Jajah will take on the role of deputy minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, and Samson Ahi for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry. The President still has four more ministers to appoint to complete his lineup of 60.
