Judiciary Under ‘Vampires’ Capture

Renowned US-based Ghanaian medical practitioner, Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy, has sounded the alarm on the dire state of affairs within Ghana’s judiciary, pointing to a troubling stranglehold by a group of powerful and greedy individuals.

In a scathing article published on the 4th of July, Dr. Kennedy highlighted a disturbing trend of injustices and politically biased outcomes emanating from the courts, attributing them to a covert takeover of the judiciary.

According to Dr. Kennedy, the cabal orchestrating this hijacking operates clandestinely across various spheres of Ghanaian society, including the judiciary, parliament, the presidency, media, and religious institutions.

He decried their brazen display of impunity and voracious greed, warning that they are leading the nation towards ruin while exhibiting contempt for the general populace.

In a bold call to action, Dr. Kennedy asserted that meaningful change can only be achieved through active citizen engagement, referencing examples from countries like Kenya where public outcry and electoral participation have driven accountability and transparency in governance.

With unwavering resolve, he urged Ghanaians to speak truth to power and uphold the nation’s best interests.

Critics have hailed Dr. Kennedy’s outspoken stance against what he perceives as a corrupt and oppressive government under President Akufo-Addo, noting his unwavering commitment to justice and integrity.

Dr. Kennedy’s expose, titled “Justice in Chaos – Poor Ghana!”, sheds light on a recent controversial judicial nomination, raising concerns about the integrity and impartiality of the justice system.

Of particular contention is the recommendation of Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botchwey for a position on the Supreme Court bench, amidst allegations of abuse and misconduct.

The refusal to address these grievances and the apparent political interference in legal proceedings have cast a shadow of doubt over the judiciary’s independence and credibility, prompting calls for reform and transparency.

Dr. Kennedy’s critique extends to broader systemic issues within the Ghanaian judiciary, highlighting instances of partisan judgements, electoral irregularities, and the erosion of fundamental democratic principles.

Drawing on historical examples of legal luminaries who championed justice and rule of law, he laments the current state of apathy and self-interest prevailing among legal practitioners and institutions.

As Ghana grapples with mounting challenges to its judicial integrity, Dr. Kennedy’s bold exposé serves as a clarion call for accountability, ethical conduct, and a return to the foundational principles of justice and fairness in the nation’s legal system.
