State Capture Inquiry Looms as Parliament Takes Aim

In a bold move to combat the rampant state capture by high-profile individuals within the Akufo-Addo government, the Parliament gears up to launch a full-scale inquiry.

The revelation came from the outspoken Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who exposed the disturbing trend on social media.

The scandalous land grab by a real estate company closely tied to the government within the Parks and Gardens department of the Forestry Commission sparked Hon. Ablakwa’s outrage.

He announced that the perpetrators would face public scrutiny in live hearings once the inquiry is in motion.

President Akufo-Addo and his cohorts have been accused of a series of property appropriations, with the recent controversial sale of six hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Scheme (SSNIT) to Agriculture Minister, Bryan Acheampong, causing a stir.

Furthermore, high-ranking officials and allies seem to be snatching up prime state lands, including the prestigious Cantonments area, for personal gain. The dubious practices date back to 2017 when Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta allegedly integrated his private company, Data Bank, into the Ministry of Finance and awarded it government loan deals.

This trend of intertwined public and private interests has raised eyebrows and fueled suspicions of corruption.

Hon. Ablakwa remains steadfast in his resistance against the illicit transfer of Cantonments lands to Dani Ike Estate Developers Limited, warning the company to back off and seek reimbursement from the original sellers.

He praised the Department of Parks and Gardens for their unwavering protection of the historic green space, emphasizing its importance in fulfilling national environmental goals. With the impending scrutiny by Parliament, the culprits behind the state capture scheme could soon face the consequences of their actions.

As the nation awaits the outcome of the inquiry, the battle against corruption and nepotism in high places rages on.
