Volta NDC Condemn Bawumia’s Visit to Region, Labels it as Empty and Insignificant

The Volta Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has lambasted the recent visit by Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to the region, dismissing it as a fruitless endeavor that will not yield any positive outcomes.

The party remains steadfast in its belief that the Vice President’s campaign efforts in the region will have minimal impact on the upcoming December election.

In a scathing statement, the NDC asserted that Dr. Bawumia’s presence in the region is merely symbolic and indicative of a farewell tour, as they hold the view that the current government, led by Nana Addo-Bawumia, has failed woefully in addressing the needs of the Volta region.

The party emphasized the widespread marginalization, unfulfilled promises, and neglect that have characterized the NPP’s governance, citing these as reasons for their skepticism regarding the party’s prospects in the region and the national election.

During his recent campaign visit, Dr. Bawumia engaged with various community members, including market traders and the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, outlining his vision for the country.

However, the NDC interpreted the visit as an opportunity for constituents to confront the Vice President about the government’s persistent shortcomings and broken promises.

Regional Secretary James Gunu underscored the demands of the people, urging accountability from the government and highlighting the long-overdue obligations owed to Volta region constituencies.

Gunu also criticized the unfulfilled pledge to construct model schools in Zongo communities, stating that such promises have proven to be deceptive and hollow.

Emphasizing the need for genuine leadership and commitment to the region’s well-being, Gunu concluded by asserting that Voltarians deserve principled and trustworthy leadership that prioritizes their interests and aspirations, emphasizing the critical importance of fulfilling commitments and advancing the region’s development agenda.
