Fulanis Descend on Samira

Allege Second Lady is exploiting them for political gain

In a bold statement issued by the Fulani community in Ghana, concerns were raised over the exploitation of their tribal identity for political purposes, specifically directed at the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia.

The Fulanis expressed frustration that despite being used as a focal point in political campaigns, they have not seen substantial policies or programs aimed at their development.

Ahmed M. Gedel, a member of the Fulani community, emphasized the need to move away from divisive tribal rhetoric and focus on fostering unity and inclusivity in political discourse.

Highlighting the challenges faced by Fulanis, including marginalization, discrimination, and violence, the statement called for a shift towards promoting respect and diversity among all ethnic groups in Ghana.

The message urged Samira Bawumia, also of Fulani descent, to prioritize initiatives that address the needs and rights of the Fulani community rather than leveraging their tribal identity for political advantage.

The Fulanis demanded a departure from divisive tactics and stressed the importance of concrete actions to support the community, such as developing cattle ranches, enhancing healthcare, and improving security.

Furthermore, the statement called for transparency regarding the New Patriotic Party government’s initiatives for the Fulanis during their tenure and emphasized the necessity of outlining future plans and commitments for the community in the upcoming elections.

The Fulanis sought a genuine commitment to uplifting and empowering their community, emphasizing practical solutions over divisive tribal strategies.

By listening to the voices of marginalized communities and demonstrating a sincere dedication to unity and inclusivity, the Fulanis underscored the significance of substantive actions to foster the well-being and progress of their people.
