Embattled Member of Parliament (MP) for the people of the Kwadaso constituency Prof Kingsley Nyarko, is fighting off claims that he made sex for grade moves during his years as a lecturer at the University of Ghana.
The MP, who is being investigated by both the Police and the Special Prosecutor’s Office over bribery allegation, says the claim by Amouse Bouche who says she was his former student, is unfounded and an attempt to destroy his hard-won image.
He believes the accusation which was made first on social media site X was mischievously thrown in just to muddy the waters after a video of him giving a cash amount in an envelope to some Electoral Commission (EC) officials during the Ejisu by-election went viral.
The former boss of think tank Danquah Institute and onetime Executive Secretary of the National Accreditation Board (NAB) in a statement to address the matter said there was no time in his career as a lecturer did this incident occurred.
He also claimed at no point in his life did he meet anyone with such a name. He further challenged the individual to come out and disclose her identity and also report him to the university so the matter can be looked into.
“The name Amouse Bouche is not a real name of a human-being. Someone is behind such a name, and purposely trying to defame me. I want to put on record that, no such event ever occurred that involved me. I do not, and have never met such a person anywhere in my life.
I would challenge the person making such allegation against me to come out publicly, disclose their identity, officially report me to the university authorities for appropriate redress”, he said.
The statement by Prof Nyarko comes in the wake of claims by his former student that he suggested to change grade of his student for sexual favours.
Amouse Bouche let the cat out of the bag while celebrating the capture of the MP on live television offering an envelope to EC officials. She had claimed in her tweet that her days at the university was made hell because of this academic.
. The MP’s accuser was hopeful that her former lecturer’s end had finally come.
“The lecturer, who used to insinuate he would change grades for sexual favours and made my life hell in Legon, Psychology at JQB especially, was caught on camera bribing at a polling station today. Woow woow woow”.
I hope Dr. Kingsley Nyarko has met his end. My vengeance has 11 years late but very sweet all the same”, her tweet on Tuesday April 30 said.
Prof Nyarko asked anyone that has evidence of sexual misconduct to come out and report it to the appropriate quarters for investigation.
“I would want the person accusing me to also come clear on the exact year the alleged incident happened, the programme pursued, and the course or courses I taught. I also would encourage any other person that I have taught at the University of Ghana during the years I was a lecturer and have demanded, insinuated and suggested sexual favours in order to alter their grades to come out and say so publicly or report me to the appropriate authorities”.
He also wanted Amouse Bouche and the university to make public if any such complaint has been levelled against him and how it was handled.
He called on his family, well-wishers and constituents to pay no heed to the claim by the X user as it is baseless.
Adding “The University of Ghana has a policy in place to address sexual harassment, and takes complaints seriously. I encourage both the accuser and the university to disclose whether any complaints have been received previously and how they were handed. This serves as a reminder for the accuser to utilize this option too. Coming on the back of the unfortunate incident at Ejisu on Tuesday, 30th April, 2024, I see clear attempt by some persons to deliberately mar, dent and soil my image and reputation built over years. I will stand firm as I always do in difficult times, and by the grace of God, I shall overcome and be vindicated at the end. I want to urge my family, friends, well-wishers and constituents to be calm, and I reassure all that, the alleged incident never ever happened. It is a blatant lie, orchestrated to discredit weaken me, but it won’t work”.
