Former President Mahama has for the first time, indicated that he will run for the 2024 presidential ticket of his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He gave the indication in Uganda where he was interviewed on NBS Television.
“My country has given me so much, educated me, and made me who I am. So if the party lets me stand, I will,” NBS TV quotes him.
Mr. Mahama also said he was not perturbed by whatever decision the party will take in regards to who becomes the next flagbearer.
“The main priority is winning the election come 2024, and if the party decides that I or someone else should stand, it’s all fine with me,” he added.
Since last week, the NDC has had a tentative date out for its flagbearership election, slated for November 2024.
Former President Mahama is widely expected to win the presidential primary by a landslide if anybody contests him.
So far, he is the only one who has confirmed he will run, even though there have been some other names, including former Finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor which have come up.
