Hannah Bissiw Gets Challenger For NDC Women Organizer

A ruthless incumbency advantage that seemed to be paving way for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s National Women’s Organizer, Hanna Bissiw, to stand unopposed for re-election has suddenly been scuttled.

Margaret Ansei Magoo, a thoroughbred NDC woman, with the mojo to at least, give her a good run for her money is seriously eyeing Hanna Bissiw’s position.

Madam Magoo is the first female President of the University of Professional Studies Chapter of the NDC’s Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN).

She served the party as the National Deputy TEIN coordinato in 2010, worked as Ashanti Regional Coordinator for Local Enterprises and Skill Development Program (LESDEP), contested the Parliamentary Candidate for Suhum constituency in 2016 and became the MCE for Suhum. During the 2020 electioneering campaign, ‘Magoo’ was appointed the Deputy National campaign spokesperson for the NDC in 2020.

Madam Magoo is also a University Don who lectures in Public Relations.

WhatsUp News has also learnt she is under eager beckon from within the party to stand up to Hannah Bissiw, who is said to have become a bit of a living scarecrow in her incumbent position.

According to sources, Hannah Bissiw has practically scared off everybody who has had any inkling of contesting her with her influence, connection and cash power. And yet, she has been estimated as rather incompetent in her position as the NDC women’s front under her leadership has practically become dormant.

In the details of Hannah Bissiw’s alleged poor leadership, she is said to not be on speaking terms with her two deputies.

But for many, the worst dent to her record was when she blatantly broke rank with the party in 2020 by contesting for MP in the Tano South in the Bono Region in 2020 while still holding on to her position as National Women’s Organizer.

She is said to have snubbed the party’s advice to concentrate on one task rather than totter under the two in an election that the NDC needed its Organizers to work at full throttle against the Akufo-Addo government.

Last week, the NDC announced dates for its internal party elections.

According to a provisional timetable released by the party, the NDC will hold its branch executive elections by Wednesday, 15 June 2022, while Constituency elections are expected to be held in September 2022.

The elections for Regional executives is expected to take place in October 2022.

Also, election of National Executives will take place in November 2022.
