Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has revealed that Vice President Bawumia is one of the important brains behind the crafting of the obnoxious electronic transfer levy (E-Levy).
Speaking on Citi TV’s Big Issue, Oppong Nkrumah explained that because of Bawumia’s foundational role in the formulation of the e-levy, it was totally unnecessary to pressure him to speak about the levy.
The revelation that Bawumia is a foundational thinker behind the thievish tax provides an interesting context to the Vice president’s protracted silence over the e-levy.
For a long time, Bawumia kept mum over the levy which empower the government to reach into the electronic wallet of people and deduct money anytime they transfer money.
Because of the surprising silence of the man who was touted as an economic whiz kid until recently, annoyed many who demanded that he speaks about the issue, but Bawumia still kept mum and rather concentrated on pushing a digitalization agenda.
