President Akufo Addo has reportedly hinted that Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the “Orphan Constituencies” would be kicked out in his next round of political appointments.
Orphan constituencies are areas where the ruling party lost the 2016 Parliamentary Elections to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and therefore has no sitting Members of Parliament the constituencies are over 100 as the NPP only holds sway to 137 seats in Parliament.
Before the 2020 general elections, the NPP had some 100 orphan constituencies, but the number has increased as it lost a lot of its previously held seats.
President Akufo Addo had reportedly met with all the 275 Constituencies Chairmen of the NPP where he is said to have announced the impending house cleaning for more than 100 MMDCEs
The President is also reportedly working to investigate why the NPP lost in some of these orphan constituencies.
