The Ministry of Roads and Highways has denied reports that it has disengaged the services of Persons Living With Disability (PWDs) as toll station ticket salespersons.
Responding to claims that it has allowed a private contractor, Tolls and Routes Management Limited (TRML) to dispense off the services of PWDs across the country, the Ministry said the claim was false.
“We wish to categorically state that the claim by the host of Class 91.3fm morning show, Mr. Kofi Oppong is completely inaccurate, unfounded and without basis,” the statement signed by its Chief Director, Edmund Offei-Annor said.
It added that “the Tolls and Routes Management Limited (TRML) is managing 20 out of 38 number Toll Stations whiles the Ghana Highway Authority is managing the other 18 number toll stations.
“For the avoidance of doubt, there are currently 190 persons with Disability (PWDs) engaged by the Tolls and Routes Management Limited and 98 Persons With Disability engaged by the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) in the collection of tolls at the Toll Stations all over the country.
