Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has praised President Akufo-Addo for taking the first-ever COVID-19 vaccination.
After the President had received the jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, the WHO Director had penned praise for him on Twitter.
“I salute the example set by President Nana Akufo-Addo in receiving the first Coivd-19 vaccination through the COVAX Facility,” he stated.
Ghana is the first country to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine under the WHO’s COVAX program. 600, 000 doses of the new vaccine was delivered to the country last week.
However, it had come amid public fear that the vaccine might be too fast-drug to be safe, given vaccines typically take decades to make while this was achieved in just months.
The public anxiety has not been helped by viral videos on social media showing horrible side-effects of other COVID-19 vaccines in some people who had received vaccinations.
There has also been a campaign on social media by some international doctors against the vaccine because of the quickness with which it was made.
And then there has been the conspiracy theories, including claims that the whole COVID-19 pandemic is staged by the Illuminati, who from 2020 decided to usher in the new world order, under which most Africans do not qualify to live and must therefore be annihilated.
These concerns are what led to Presidents of other countries, including Almighty USA, to stand in line first for vaccination as a means of allaying fears. President Akufo-Addo this morning, did for Ghana, what Joe Biden did for the US.
He had gone to the 37 Military Hospital together with his Vice, Mahamudu Bawumia, and the First and Second Ladies, to receive the jabs before television cameras.
