The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western North Region has flatly rejected the results of the parliamentary election declared for the Electoral Commission (EC) for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate.
This is because the results were declared even though one ballot box that was used for voting went missing so that its contents remain unknown.
The NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the Constituency, Paul Evans Aidoo, today told a press conference that the EC was conspiratorial in the loss of the ballot box said to be from a part of the Constituency where the NDC has strong support.
“Up till the time of speaking to you, the ballot boxes of the officers of the electoral commission forced to vanish into the air has not been produced,” he said adding that “what is happening in Sefwhi Wiawso did not happen by accident,” Mr. Evans Aidoo said.
The Sefwi Wiawso constituency is one of five which the NDC had earlier won. However, the governing NPP has been accused of using soldiers and the Police to force the Electoral Commission to reverse the earlier declarations.
Yesterday, Flagbearer of the NDC, Mr. John Mahama had vowed that none of the five constituencies would be given up by the NDC.
Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo said until that extra missing box is produced, the NDC will never accept the result.
He has hinted that the party may go to court over the election if the missing ballot box is not relocated and its contents counted.
