Asamoah Gyan Denies Interest In Obra Spot Land

…as military launches search for soldiers who invaded there with excavators

Camp of former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has debunked claims in the media that he is the interest party behind the Wednesday abortive attempt to evict commercial drivers from the piece of land at Obra Spot within the Kwame Nkrumah Circle area.

In reaction to the claims that the soldiers and macho men who had invaded the place with excavators were acting as his hirelings, Gyan’s camp said the claim was false.

His Manager, Samuel Anim Addo, reveals that the claim is news to Asamoah Gyan and himself. “We have no idea, we have not bought any land and we have not even step foot there in more than ten years.”

According to him whoever is behind the claim is falsely using Asamoah Gyan’s name for an end only known to that person.

That claim had come from Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) drivers who ply between Circle and Nungua. The allegation had been made after the drivers had forcefully resisted the group of soldiers and macho men who had invaded the place with excavators to evict the drivers.

That abortive eviction attempt, it is alleged was to force the drivers to make way for the transformation of the lorry station into a business hub for Asamoah Gyan who is said to have bought the land from its owners.

The drivers had backed their allegations with claims that prior to the invasion, Asamoah Gyan’s elder brother, Baffour Gyan, had been seen at the place inspecting some preparatory work for the main construction work.

After prevailing against the invasion, the drivers had vowed never to move from the land and called on President Akufo-Addo to intervene on their behalf against Asamoah Gyan.

Reacting to the allegation however, Samuel Anim Addo said that the claim that any of the Gyans is behind any project at Obra Spot is a figment of the drivers’ imagination. “As for Baffour Gyan, I believe he has not been at that place in about 20 years,” Mr. Anim Addo said.

Meanwhile, the Clottey Korley district Assembly has said the land is not a private property and that as government’s property; the Assembly has not ceded it or sold it out to anybody. Consequently, it said there was no way anybody could evict the drivers to make way for the any business venture.

This morning, the military high command is also said to have launched an investigation in a bid to find out the identity of the soldiers who had invaded the place.

This is because the military is said to be unaware of any instruction that has been issued any personnel to invade the Obra Spot.
