Ghana Premier League legend Bernard Dong Bortey has been appointed coach of Techiman-based Division Two side Gold Stars.
The 37-year-old says his inspiration is from the Cecil Jones Atuquayefio- who coached him to stardom at Hearts of Oak and also in the 1999 Ghana U17 team which finished third at the FIFA World Cup in New Zealand.
However, the former GHAPOHA and Aduana Stars talisman is yet to receive his CAF License C certificate which will certify him to sit on the bench.
Bortey believes he has the credentials to develop talents.
”I want to concentrate on helping the younger generation with the vast knowledge I had in football during my playing days,” Bortey told Graphic Sports.
”I have been coaching for two years now and so far so good. It is very stressful but I believe I have a lot to offer these young ones.’
”It is a very difficult job but I’m determined to work harder to make a mark in coaching.”
Bortey had a short coaching stint at Accra-based Emmanuel FC where he worked under ex-Ghana international goalkeeper Richard Kingson.
