Shipping line, Pacific International Lines Limited (PIL) Ghana, has announced that it is waiving demurrage on its shipping for over the period of Ghana’s Covid-19 Lockdown in solidarity with the fight against the pandemic.
In a notice to customers, the company said the move has been agreed upon by its principals in Singapore.
“The Management of PIL Ghana Ltd in an effort to assist our import customers during this difficult period and also in recognition of the request from Government through the Ghana shipper’s authority to allow for a freeze on demurrage charged during the lockdown period is informing all customers that demurrage will not apply for containers that arrived in Ghana from the 30th of March to the 19th of April, 2020.
“This is in line with discussions held with our principals in Singapore who have agreed to the terms proposed,” the notice said.
