In a groundbreaking event set to ignite change, Vice-President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is set to kick off Mental Health Awareness Month on April 30, 2025.
Under the Ministry of Health’s Mental Health Authority, the month of May will glow with the color purple as a beacon of hope and understanding. This month-long initiative aims to shed light on the impact of mental illness on lives and empower individuals with knowledge about available resources. Advocacy will take center stage, urging everyone to lend their voice to the cause, regardless of personal experiences.
Joining the Vice-President will be esteemed guests including Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Mental Health Authority CEO Professor Pinaman Appau.
The much-anticipated event kicks off at 10:00 a.m. at the Ghana Shippers Authority Conference Room – MT Addico Hall, Ground Floor. The theme for this transformative year will be “Mental well-being: My voice matters.”
As the Mental Health Authority boldly states on their website, “Mental health’s impact in the workplace is far-reaching, resonating throughout society and the global economy. Prioritizing mental health is not just an ethical choice; it’s a strategic move for success. A workforce that values mental well-being is a powerhouse, steering organizations towards greatness.”
