CASSIEL’S BUDGET SHOWDOWN!

Betting, E-levy, Covid Taxes yank for Reset Reforms

Ghanaians are on the edge of their seats as Finance Maestro Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson gears up to unveil the grand 2025 Budget vision today, Tuesday March 11.

Joined by his trusty deputy, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, the good doctor made waves over the weekend with a bold visit to Makola Market to tap into the beating heart of the nation’s economy and engage with the pulse of the people.

Not stopping there, Dr Forson took to the virtual streets, hitting up X space (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday to wag his finger at naysayers and answer the burning questions of the youth.

Dismissing claims that these moves were just for show, the Ajumako Enyan Essiam MP thundered, “I take action seriously.

I’m here to listen, not for optics. Ignore the noise!” With the clock ticking towards the big reveal, hopes are soaring high among the private sector, economists, and everyday Ghanaians desperate for change after weathering a savage economic storm under the previous regime.

Whispers in the wind suggest seismic reforms, policies, and promises galore, including a crackdown on inflation, slashing sky-high interest rates, and steadying the rocky Cedi.

Swept up in the whirlwind are a slew of social initiatives and campaign darlings, from the 24-hour economy dream to the National Women Development Bank brainchild of Vice Prez Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

But the real kicker? Dr Forson vows to sledgehammer those pesky nuisance taxes like the bet winnings grab, the COVID-19 sting, and the infamous e-levy.

With COVID-19, e-levy, and betting tax revenues set to pour a cool 7.6 billion into the coffers, the burning question remains:

Where will the golden goose lay its eggs once these taxes meet their fiery end? As the countdown to curtain-up unfolds, all eyes are glued to the stage, with whispers of new taxes dancing on the wind.

But the big saga? Only time will tell if Cassiel’s bold budget blitz will land like a hero—or fizzle out like a damp squib.   #GhanaBudget2025
