Stakeholders in the Creative Arts sector unleash fury on NPP’s Habib Iddrisu for his scathing attack on actor John Dumelo and demand a swift apology.
The MP dropped the bombshell during a grilling session with the Agriculture Minister nominee, urging Dumelo to swap his acting charm for political grit in his possible new role.
The shocking remarks left many in the industry fuming, branding them as disrespectful and condescending. The Film Directors Guild of Ghana, led by Richard Yaw Boateng, fired off a stern rebuke, slamming the MP’s comments as careless and uncalled for.
They demanded an immediate retraction and an unreserved apology. Media personality and arts advocate George Quaye also weighed in on the debacle, criticizing Dumelo for not standing up to defend his roots in the creative sector.
Quaye emphasized the importance of honoring and championing the arts. Not stopping there, radio host Kwame Dadzie took to social media to vent his disappointment, questioning the lack of appreciation for the arts displayed by the likes of Habib Iddrisu.
He urged for respect and recognition for the hard work put in by creatives. As the storm rages on, Habib remains silent while Dumelo gears up to collaborate with Minister Eric Opoku, leaving the industry and its supporters in eager anticipation for a resolution to this clash of opinions.
