Volta House Of Chiefs Backs Acting Governor Appointment

The Volta Regional House of Chiefs has voiced its approval of President John Dramani Mahama’s nomination of Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama as the acting Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

Following the departure of his predecessor Dr. Ernest Addison, Dr. Asiama was selected to assume the role until a permanent replacement is appointed.

In a statement released on Monday, signed by the House’s vice president Togbega Patamia Dzekley VII, the traditional rulers expressed their confidence in Dr. Asiama’s abilities and qualifications for the position.

They believe that his leadership will bring about policies that promote economic resilience, financial inclusion, and sustainable development in the country.

The House of Chiefs urged all Ghanaians to support Dr. Asiama in his new role, emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation for the nation’s prosperity.

Dr. Asiama assumed office on February 3 and has already begun engaging with senior executives of the central bank.

While there were initial concerns raised about his assumption of duties without approval from the Council of State, with the recent conclusion of the Council of State elections, the path is now clear for Dr. Asiama to receive the necessary approval for his appointment.
