SAMIRA’S LAND BARONESS RUNS TO COURT

…seeks injunction against explosive  tell-it-all story

Special investigative report

A certain Mrs. Cynthia Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of Lysaro 3L Ventures and Lysaro Home & Mart, faces scrutiny over allegations of leveraging her connection with Ms. Samira Bawumia, the former Second Lady and wife of ex-Vice President, Dr Mamoud Bawumia, to amass wealth for herself.

But even before the gavel falls on the investigation, Mrs. Adjei, who is known to be a petty trader of children wear at Accra’s main ‘second hand cloth dealer market, popularly called ‘Kantamanto’ run to court with the aim of securing an injunction against the investigative journalist.

Mrs Adjei’s sudden rise to fame, coincided with the coming into office of the Nana Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government, which was riddled with corruption and land grabbing allegations.

Interestingly, Cynthia Adjei, who may soon be facing criminal investigations over potential organized loot of state lands, also attached the Attorney General (the government legal advisor), to her process against the journalist, ostensibly to pre-empt any future investigation against her.

Her claim is that, a questionnaire sent by the journalist seeking her response to alleged questionable activities, had breached provisions of the data protection Act.

She explained that, references were made in the questionnaire to details she provided only to the Registrar of Companies and Ghana Revenue Authority [GRA], hence alleged her fundamental human rights to privacy, has been affected.

The investigative inquiry, spearheaded by freelance journalist, Innocent Samuel Appiah, delves into various aspects of the operations and practices of Lysaro 3L Ventures, amid concerns surrounding land acquisition activities, potential conflicts of interest, and tax compliance issues.

Central to the investigation, are queries regarding the legality of land transactions by Lysaro 3L Ventures and Lysaro Home & Mart, with a focus on potential personal relationships or influential figures involved in expediting these acquisitions.

Of particular interest, are the procurement processes for contracts secured from GOIL Company Limited and the Students Loan Trust Fund, with an emphasis on any perceived conflicts of interest stemming from Mrs. Adjei’s husband’s positions within these organizations.

Apparently, Mrs Adjei’s husband, Mr Jacob Kwabena Adjei, is the accountant of Goil and the immediate past chairman of the Ghana Student Loan Trust Fund,

Mr Adjei, played a key role in the disbursement of contracts and payments at the two institutions.

Addressing the tax compliance practices of the companies, is also a key aspect of the investigation, with inquiries aimed at understanding how Lysaro 3L Ventures, ensures adherence to tax regulations and transparency in financial operations, coupled with any past instances of audits or investigations related to tax compliance.

Furthermore, discrepancies related to the registration status of Lysaro 3L Ventures, initially marked as a sole proprietorship and facing overdue renewals, as well as Lysaro Home & Mart in arrears, prompted a call for rectification of these administrative lapses.

The New Republic, is gathering dossiers on the relationship between Mrs. Cynthia Adjei and the Former Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, to ascertain the source of the former’s influence at both the State Housing Company and Lands Commission, following several allegations of insidious coincidences between the two.

Sometime in June 2024, Vice President Bawumia’s spouse, commandeered military helicopter designated for troop transportation and other essential duties to a private funeral of Mrs. Adjei’s late mother in Sunyani.

Samira Bawumia, reportedly directed the helicopter to the funeral, where she remained for the duration of the two-day event.

The incident generated unease within the military ranks, given that protocol dictates the appropriate use of military assets.

The longstanding friendship between Samira Bawumia and Cynthia Adjei, predating Mrs. Bawumia’s tenure as Second Lady, is well-documented.

Their close bond, has been publicly displayed through various social engagements, including a joint celebration of Ms. Adjei’s fortieth birthday in 2022.

From the Court processes intercepted by the New Republic, Mr Samuel Appiah’s several invitations to Mrs. Cynthia Adjei, for an in-depth interview to address the inquiries comprehensively, had been turned down by the all-powerful ‘baroness’.

The New Republic, will be following the development in the case, as the court determines the outcome of the interlocutory injunction to be moved by Mrs Adjei Tomorrow.
