Veteran broadcaster Solomon Kwasi Aboagye, known for his tenure at the Despite Group, has strongly criticized gospel musician Nicholas Omane Acheampong for spreading false claims against National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader John Dramani Mahama.
During an appearance on Peace FM, the ‘Tabitha Kum’ singer alleged that Mahama would abolish the flagship free Senior High School (SHS) policy if elected in the upcoming elections.
Acheampong, a known New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathizer, has been actively campaigning for the ruling party.
Despite attempts by Kwasi Aboagye to correct the singer, Acheampong adamantly stood by his statements, insisting he was speaking the truth and refusing to be corrected.
The broadcaster expressed his disappointment at the musician’s misinformation, calling it unfair and a blatant lie.
In a heated argument, Kwasi Aboagye admonished Acheampong for spreading falsehoods and urged him to stop misinforming the public.
He emphasized the importance of speaking the truth and not misleading people, especially as a public figure.
Acheampong attempted to defend his claims by providing a video as evidence, but Kwasi Aboagye dismissed it, stating that the evidence was unreliable and could be manipulated. The broadcaster continued to urge Acheampong to stop spreading lies and misrepresentations, emphasizing the need for accurate information in politics.
As the discussion escalated, Acheampong threatened to leave the show if he was not allowed to speak freely, while Kwasi Aboagye reiterated his commitment to speaking the truth regardless of any accusations of bias.
Despite the back-and-forth exchanges, the broadcaster remained steadfast in his mission to correct misinformation and educate the public on the facts surrounding the free SHS policy.
