Mahama Ayariga Apologizes to Natinga Youth after Campaign Misstep

Bawku Central’s Member of Parliament (MP), Mahama Ayariga, has extended a heartfelt apology to the Natinga youth and National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in the Upper East Region following an unfortunate incident during the recent campaign visit of the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

The incident occurred when the NDC convoy failed to make a scheduled stop at grandfather Gumah’s residence, arousing disappointment among the eager supporters, leading to the burning of party paraphernalia in protest.

Ayariga attributed the oversight to time constraints, as the campaign team surpassed the allotted stops in the constituency.

Expressing understanding for the supporters’ grievances, Ayariga reassured them of future visits from Mahama, emphasizing that the campaign season is just commencing.

He acknowledged the region’s significance as an NDC stronghold and stressed the need for a calm and harmonious campaign environment.

During a television interview on Woezor TV, Ayariga shed light on the challenges faced, including security concerns in Bawku due to chieftaincy conflicts, which impacted Mahama’s itinerary.

He highlighted the delicate balance between engaging with supporters and prioritizing safety, underscoring the need for strategic choices amid heightened tensions.

As Mahama’s nationwide campaign gains momentum, Ayariga’s conciliatory gestures aim to mend relations with disillusioned NDC supporters in Natinga and reaffirm the party’s commitment to a peaceful and inclusive electioneering process in the Upper East Region and beyond.
