Joined Okyehene and Gabby in tears at National Security Summit
President Akufo-Addo is apparently unhappy about claims implicating him as having killed his late wife before marrying now First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.
He is also not enthused about accusation about him and his kinsmen linking them to the controversial ‘Agyapade3’ book.
At a hurriedly organized forum by the ‘Ghana Report’, a communication consortium with a heavy backing by the Signal Bureau unit of the national security, headed by Kwabena Adu Boahene, the President vehemently denied any link to the contentious Agyapadie3 book.
The Agyapadie3 book is alleged to be carefully designed blueprint by the President and his tribe men, to siphon and take Ghana’s resources in what have been described as state capture fashion.
Speaking at the conference, the seemingly agitated President said categorically that the Agyapade3 document is nothing but a fabricated document by his opponents to destroy his image as a politician.
The President’s description of the book is not different from a recent outburst by Akyem Abuakwa chief, Amoatia Ofori-Panin.
In his keynote address at the Ghana Report Summit, themed “Dealing with Misinformation and Disinformation – Election 2024,” the President stressed how misinformation can go to thwart successes in a democracy.
He said the book circulated primarily by a so called opposition operatives as evidence to discredit him and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“This baseless accusation is yet another example of the malicious tactics used to undermine my credibility and integrity,” the President stated.
“In the run-up to the 2008, 2012 and 2016 presidential elections, I was a target of numerous false and malicious stories attacking my credibility and integrity. In 2008, baseless allegations of drug trafficking were spread, along with numerous rumours about my health intended to cast doubt on my ability to serve as President.
“Again, the 2012 election saw false reports of my alleged arrest in London for drug possession and fabricated quotes designed to stir ethnic tension. In 2016, it was alleged by sympathizers of the opposition that I had killed my late wife. Today, with a few months to the 2024 elections, they are at it again. The fabricated document entitled ‘Agyapade3’ is being spread around by operatives of the opposition as evidence of a grand scheme by my party to annex the assets of the state,” he recounted.
The president’s outrage comes years after he personally waged a massive campaign against his main opponent sometimes peddling blatant lies ahead of the 2016. In October 2015, the then opposition leader concocted many stories against John Mahama. In that endevour, the NPP flagbearer in faraway Amsterdam, capital of Netherlands claimed that President Mahama then had printed presidential diaries costing a whopping $10 million as gifts. On many occasions, the NDC and Mr Mahama refuted this claim and asked that he be prosecuted after the NPP won political power.
Speaking at the International Conference of the NPP at the NH Grand in Amsterdam, candidate Akufo-Addo attacked the then President over what he deemed a wasteful expenditure.
“I listen to the disillusionment of the average Ghanaian with politicians who promise them relief and end up bringing them grief when they get into office. I listened to the journalist who is saddened by the revelation that a government can spend $10 million to print presidential diaries. Yes, you heard me right; $10 million. And yet we are barely able to scrape together $10 million as a down payment on our debt to Nigeria for the supply of a truly essential product – gas,” he said.
He was the same person that said Mr Mahama inflated the Kasoa interchange of millions of cedis.
It took the Ranking Member on Roads and Highways Kwabena Owusu Aduomi to say that it was untrue. It was the same President Akufo-Addo that stood in Kumasi to say that Mr Mahama was practicing family and friends and that when he comes to power, his wife Rebecca will not share contract.
Meanwhile, as at the time he was making the claim, the only known family member in the government was just his cousin, Joyce Bawah Mogtari was serving as a Deputy Minister for Transport.
As at the time of filing this story, President AkufoAddo is on record to have been rated as the only Ghanaian leader to have appointed his family and friends than any leader in Ghana’s history. He has appointed so much that his children, baby mamas, cousins, nephews and everyone in around him has been appointed into government.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-Panin whose image was used as cover photograph on the controversial book, touching on the issue, in a similar fashion said there is no iota of truth in what have been chronicled in the document and that it is the figment of the author’s imagination, just to destroy the hard worn image of the people of the Ofori -Panin Fie.
At the Akyem Abuakwa State Council meeting held over the weekend, the chief called on his kinsmen and Ghanaians to disregard the book.
“We saw this during the period of J.B Danquah and we’re seeing this now. In and around October 2016, about a few months before the election, the same document known as the ‘Akyem Project’ was in circulation. The focus of that was to fan hatred between Okyeman and Asanteman to undermine the electoral efforts of Nana Akufo-Addo. Unfortunately for them, it came too late to the election.
“This diabolic plan was revised in 2019. In the year 2020 when the Agyapa business became a political issue, the book suddenly metamorphosed into ‘Agyapade3’,” the king noted.
President Akufo-Addo’s cousin and a very powerful individual in his government on the heels of many discussions surrounding the Agyapade3 document recently Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko anyone who sees the book as credible must have his or her head medically checked.
“If you believe a family will document its alleged evil plans against the very village they live proudly in, document it in revised copies of a book with a portrait of the head of family boldly on its front cover, then please have your head examined” Gabby posted on Facebook days ago.
“It’s not new. They accused K4 falsely of stealing all of Ghana’s gold, distributed photocopies of fake bank accounts of K4’s ministries with crazy amounts which combined was bigger than Ghana’s GDP! Yes!” he added
