Shocking revelations have emerged regarding an alleged covert recruitment practice within the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), as a leaked audio exposes a shadowy process employed to handpick individuals for military enlistment, bypassing transparency and accountability standards.
Despite widespread calls for security agencies to conduct recruitment processes openly and fairly, the GAF appears to be flouting regulations by selecting recruits clandestinely, leading to concerns about compromised ethics and lowered standards within the revered institution.
In the intercepted audio recording, an unidentified individual claiming to represent a senior officer within the GAF, referred to as “director,” can be heard orchestrating the enlistment of aspiring soldiers outside the official channels.
The individual expresses enthusiasm over progress made in preparing candidates for military training schools, hinting at irregularities in the selection process.
According to the audio, the GAF is allegedly side-stepping traditional recruitment methods by focusing solely on clearing a backlog of applicants who have undergone vetting and medical examinations or are awaiting these procedures.
The unnamed source divulged that despite the Forces’ logo being featured in the online document for form purchases, new recruits will not be welcomed, and only those from the existing list will be considered for training schools.
Moreover, concerns have been raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the covert recruitment practices within the security sector, particularly targeting the Ghana Police Service under the leadership of Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
The NDC’s National Youth Organizer, George Opare Addo, highlighted fears of deliberate recruitment to bolster the ranks with individuals sympathetic to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling for transparency and equal opportunities for all eligible applicants.
In light of these disturbing revelations and the alleged ongoing secret recruitment saga, Ghanaians are urged to closely monitor the developments within the security agencies and demand accountability to uphold the integrity of Ghana’s armed forces and law enforcement bodies.
