Akufo Addo Gov’t in Money Raid … Amidst Multiple Corruption Allegations

Allegations of brazen corruption within the Akufo-Addo administration have reached unprecedented levels, with shocking revelations of massive financial hoarding by key figures emerging.

A founding member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adum Bawuah, has labeled the current government as the epitome of graft in the history of the Fourth Republic, accusing its members of clandestinely amassing enormous sums of public funds.

In a candid interview with Accra’s Top FM, Mr. Barwuah disclosed the staggering details of malfeasance within the government, singling out the late Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah. Shockingly, Kumah, who reportedly succumbed to poisoning in March 2024, was found to have a jaw-dropping US$30 million tucked away in his bank accounts.

Questions linger over the origins of such substantial wealth amassed during his brief three-year tenure as deputy minister. The revelations on Kumah’s alleged financial holdings come amidst a cloud of suspicion surrounding former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah, embroiled in a now-defunct investigation linked to her hoarding of millions of dollars in her residence.

It is reported that Dapaah stashed such vast sums in her bedroom drawer that even her domestic aide managed to purloin a million dollars without immediate detection. Mr. Bawuah underscored a pervasive culture of corruption within both the NPP and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

However, he asserted that the NPP’s malfeasance outweighed that of the NDC exponentially, citing stark examples such as the contrast between fundraising for the medical expenses of the ailing former NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and the staggering wealth discovered in John Kumah’s bank accounts upon his demise.

The unfolding scandal has cast a shadow over the Akufo-Addo administration, with claims of cash hidden under beds and in water tanks painting a grim picture of systemic corruption within the highest echelons of power.

The gravity of these allegations raises serious concerns about governance and accountability in Ghana’s political landscape.
