MultiChoice Ghana Limited has issued a stern notice cautioning broadcasters and the public against unauthorized commentary, broadcast, or re-broadcast of UEFA European Football Championship matches – popularly known as Euros 2024.
The reminder underlines that SuperSport International has the exclusive Pay TV broadcast rights for these matches on DStv and GOtv platforms throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
The public notice explicitly prohibits any individual, media outlet, or event organizer without accreditation from the rights owner from conducting public screenings, live or delayed broadcasts, re-broadcasts on free-to-air or pay TV channels, social media platforms, or radio commentary of the Euros 2024 matches.
The directive reinforces that violators will face both civil and criminal sanctions in accordance with the law. Managing Director of MultiChoice Ghana, Alex Okyere, emphasized the importance of adherence to these guidelines to maintain the integrity of the broadcasting rights. All media houses in Ghana have been notified of these regulations.
This proactive measure by MultiChoice Ghana underscores the company’s commitment to protecting the exclusive broadcasting rights of the UEFA Euros 2024 matches, ensuring that viewers experience the tournaments through authorized channels only.
