Promises Next Government Will Revitalize Fishing Industry
The bustling Canoe Wharf area of the Tema Fishing Harbour witnessed a flurry of activity on Saturday as John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress, brought his campaign to engage with the local community.
In a bid to connect with a crucial segment of the population, Mahama interacted with traders, fishmongers, fishermen, fish processors, canoe and equipment owners, and more.
He took the opportunity to reassure them of his commitment to reviving the fishing industry, pledging to address key concerns such as the delivery of essential supplies like premix fuel and outboard motors to landing beach committees and chief fishermen.
The NDC leader also made a promise to exclude artisanal fishing from the closed-season policy, highlighting the need for targeted interventions to support the livelihoods of those dependent on the sector.
Furthermore, Mahama stressed the importance of immediate action to jumpstart the Ghanaian economy, combat inflation, and foster collaboration in building a prosperous future for the nation.
As the campaign season heats up, Mahama’s visit to the Canoe Wharf area serves as a reminder of the pressing issues facing local communities and his vision for a revitalized and inclusive economy.
