Former President John Dramani Mahama has criticized President Akufo-Addo for allegedly appointing politically exposed individuals to crucial roles, raising concerns about the neutrality and fairness of the upcoming polls.
During an interaction with the Christian Ecumenical Council (CEC) in Accra, Mahama highlighted his worries regarding recent events such as the Ejusu by-election and the ongoing limited voter registration exercise, questioning the appointment of party affiliates to significant positions.
Mahama pointed out instances where individuals with clear partisan backgrounds have been appointed to key positions, including the Electoral Commission.
He urged for vigilance and called for a fair and unbiased electoral process to ensure that the will of the people prevails.
Emphasizing the crucial role of the church in advocating for neutrality and fairness in elections, Mahama called for active engagement from church leaders to safeguard the integrity of the democratic process and promote transparency.
He urged the church community to speak out against practices that could compromise the electoral framework, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a trustworthy electoral environment for all Ghanaians.
