Several vehicles from the convoy of President Akufo-Addo have been involved in an accident.
According to a a release from the Communications Directorate of the Jubilee House, the accident occured on Sunday May 19, at Bunso junction in the Eastern region whiles the convoy was returning to Accra after accompanying the President to Kumasi for series of events.
The President who had at the weekend attended the funeral of the late deputy finance minister, John Kumah, was not in the convoy when the accident occured.
The driver of one of the vehicles died on the spot whiles several other members of the convoy sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The injured persons according to the release, were initially treated at the Suhum Government hospital, but later evacuated to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for further treatment and observation.
Unconfirmed reports say, the convoy was crossed by a KIA Rhino truck resulting in the crash.
Videos on social media show a badly mangled Toyota Land Cruiser on one side of the road, with some security personnel standing by.
