The JDM Door to Door National Campaign Launch held in Kumasi on Saturday, April 13, 2024, garnered significant attention and enthusiasm, with attendees describing the event as explosive. The event, held at the Agona Community Center, featured several prominent speakers including Hon. Ade Coker, former Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Dr. George Sipa-Adjah Yankey, former CEO of Ghana Gas, Mr. Leslie Tamakloe, Businessman, Mr. Eric Asibe the Parliamentary Candidate for Kwadaso, Alhaji Muhammad Bawa Briamah, MP for Ejura sekyedumase, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, MP for Obuasi West, Mr. Evans Amo Twumasi, Parliamentary Candidate for Efigya Sekyere East and Mr. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, former NDC Director of Elections.
In his powerful addressthat engaged the rapt attention of his audience, Mr. AfriyieAnkrah emphasized the significance of the JDM Door to Door campaign, highlighting its role as a Support Group rather than a Splinter Group within the party. Drawing parallels with past successful campaign strategies, he commended the initiative and praised the efforts of the Founder, Rev. Osei Bonsu, and his executives. He stressed the importance of inclusivity, noting that the campaign provides a platform for individuals eager to contribute but unsure of how to do so.
The speaker identified some Do’s and Don’ts and outlined some essential guidelines for the JDM Door-to-Door Campaign, emphasizing the need to avoid bureaucracy, undermining party structures, and engaging in petty conflicts. Instead, he urged participants to support branches and constituencies, maintain transparency, and focus on community engagement. Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah also highlighted key strategies for effective campaigning, including establishing a strong community entry plan, targeting youth and women groups, reaching out to new and floating voters, and forming study and discussion groups.
Addressing concerns about misinformation, Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah encouraged understanding of critical issues and emphasized the need to showcase the achievements of John Mahama’s administration compared to the current government’s record.
