Speculations from reliable sources are picking up steam and is confirming that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has been handpicked as President Akufo Addo’s puppet to continue his shambolic governance.
Blessed Godsbrain Smart, the popular host of Onua TV’s morning show is confirming hushed-up complaints in the party that Vice President Bawumia is simply an old wine in a new goat skin, as he lines up the infamous cousin of President Akuffo Addo as Chief of Staff in his administration.
Smart, aka Captain Smart, who has serious insider information about the ruling party is also alleging that Akufo Addo’s other cousin who currently serves as Akufo Addo’s Executive Secretary, is being penned down by Dr. Bawumia as the Attorney General if he does win the 2024 presidential elections.
According to Captain Smart in a recent monologue on his TV show, these controversial appointments in a potential Bawumia government is intended to spite former president John Agyekum Kufuor as well as cover up the wanton corruption that the Akufo Addo administration has become associated with.
“What is going to happen is that if Bawumia becomes president, Gabby Otchere-Darko will be Chief of Staff and Asante Bediatuo will be Attorney-General. This is being done to spite JA Kufuor. The other reason is that if they elect Bawumia, they will be able to cover up the rot in the presidency. Ken Ofori-Atta will be Ghana’s ambassador to the United States of America,” Captain Smart stated.
“Their plans will not work because we will vote against the NPP. I have never voted against the NPP but for the time in 2024, I will do it,” he said.
Captain Smart’s revelation reinforces long-held rumours within the ruling party that President Akufo Addo was preparing his cousins to occupy key positions in government upon his exit to insulate him from possible future prosecutions for the reported misrule and corruption in his government.
There were reports that he was preparing his other cousin and current Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta as a vice presidential hopeful upon his exit.
Understandably, none of these speculations have been admitted. But, the attitude of President Akufo Addo further reinforces these insinuations. For instance, despite the myriad of corruption allegations and incompetence of the Finance Minister, the President has maintained him throughout his two four-year terms.
There were insider reports of how money changed hands in Parliament to force some opposition parliamentarians to back down from their threats of scuttling the vetting of Ken Ofori-Atta after he was selected to once more serve as Finance Minister in President Akufo Addo’s second term.
