Octopus Gabby Admits Ghana Is Hard In War Of Words With Prof. Steve Hanke

Notorious cousin of President Akufo-Addo, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko has admitted that the country under his relative has become tough, especially for the average Ghanaian.

This admission came in the form of a war of words with Professor of Applied Economics at the Johns Hopkins University, Prof. Steve Hanke, who has been presenting the bitter truth about the state of inflation in Ghana even as the Akufo-Addo government blatantly misinforms the public about it.

In response to Prof. Hanke’s mocking of the shambolic handling of the Ghanaian economy and Gabby’s unrequited call for the government and Ministry of Finance to be praised for handling the economy in spite of challenges, Gabby accused the Professor of writing doom from America without having a first-hand experience of an economy that majority of Ghanaians agree with Prof. Hanke to have been driven into a ditch.

“I live on the part of this planet called Ghana…I see, I feel how tough things are, especially for the average Ghanaian. I see how tough it is for the Gov’t and the constant struggle to keep bills paid, kids in school, our lights on etc. I don’t sit far away behind my PC typing doom,” Octopus Gabby wrote.

Gabby was forced out of his hole to tackle Prof. Hanke after the latter had mocked his [Gabby’s] tone-deaf claim that the government deserves praise for its handling of the economy.

But Prof. Hanke had jabbed Gabby’s detached perception of reality as that of one living in space.

“Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Otchere-Darko says Pres. Akufo-Addo deserves praise for his handling of the economy. SPOILER ALERT: Otchere-Darko must be on another planet,” Prof. Hanke had posted.

The good professor who has been tracking inflation world-wide recently pegged Ghana’s inflation at 81%/y, rather than the 33.9% that the Ghana Statistical Service has reported.

Meanwhile, the economic hardships in the country was one reason why over the weekend, thousands of Ghanaian youth hooted at President Akufo-Addo at the Black Star Square.

Akufo-Addo had mounted the podium at the 2022 Global Citizen Festival to address the people but youth there in attendance raised a hoot, heckling the president and then shooed him with claps while shouting “away, away, away.”
