Management of the Produce Buying Company (PBC) limted has informed staff that it is in no position to pay salaries for August as the company is facing financial challenges.
In a letter dated 6th September, 2022 and signed by Nanette Aryee, Manager of Human Resource, staff were however told that Management was doing all it can to ensure they are paid soonest.
“We wish to inform all members of staff that the payment of salaries for the month of August, 2022 will delay due to the current financial challenges faced by the company.
“It is the resolve Management to continuously work around the clock to ensure payment of staff salaries for the month in question,” the letter said urging staff to bear with Management.
With the August pay pending, it means that the September salary is also yet to be paid.
The produce buying company is government’s company which is responsible for purchasing cocoa beans from farmers on behalf of government.
For a long time, iot has struggled to even pay farmers with government often reneging on its duties to make money available to buy the produce cash and carry.
