The Ghana Civil Association Authority (GCAA) has prohibited American airline company, Delta Airlines, from flying an “unacceptable” and faulty carrier to Accra.
In a letter cautioning the airline, the GCAA pointed out a Delta plane with registration number N-195DN as a flying coffin, and must not be permitted into Ghanaian airspace.
The ban is contained in a letter dated August 19, 2022, and addressed to the “Accountable Manager” at Delta Airlines.
It was in response to what the GCAA described as “events of August 1st, 2022 in which the aircraft with registration number N195DN was forced to return to gate due to a technical problem.”
Following the incident, the GCAA said it conducted an investigation to ascertain the cause of the development with the investigation revealing that the crew had reported a fuel imbalance with the left main tank among others.
It was also revealed that “The inbound crew experienced this same issue on the flight leg to Accra i.e on 31st July 2022.
The GCAA pointed out that with the negative reportage about the flight, they expected that “Delta Airlines would have thoroughly investigated the issue to arrive at the root cause of the failure before dispatching the aircraft on flights.”
