Trade Minister, Alan John Kyeremanten, has condemned a statement by New Patriotic Party leading member, Hopeson Yaovi Adorye, in support of Kyeremanten’s presidential ambition.
Alans Kyeremanteng said in a statement that the loose-talking Adorye was disrespectful in claiming that it was now the turn of the Busia faction of the NPP to lead the party through Alan Kyeremanten as flagbearer.
According to Mr. Kyeremanten, Hopeson Adorye’s statement is divisive and also diminishes the contribution of some of the founding fathers of the NPP tradition.
“…It is impossible or inappropriate, to diminish or distort the fundamental contributions and stature of any of the founding fathers of the NPP tradition,” said the statement.
He also decried what he said is a dangerous trend “in our body politic in Ghana, of using misinformation and propaganda in instigating disunity along ethnic, religious and political lines. Let us all pull together, and focus on the task of emerging victorious, in the challenging times we are faced with today as a country,” he said.
Last weekend, Hopeson Adorye attended a health walk organized by some NPP youth in the Ashanti Region in the name of Alan Kyeremanten, where he made incendiary statements that the Northern stock of the party called the Dombo tradition was destined to play second fiddle to the Akan factions of Busia and Danquah.
