PRINPAG Retains Edwin Arthur As President

The Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), on Friday, re-elected its incumbent President, Mr. Edwin Arthur, to a second term in office.

At the election, Lawyer Edwin Arthur won against his contender, Mr. David Tamakloe, the publisher of Whatsup News.

He polled 32 votes against Mr. Tamakloe’s 18 votes to coast home for another three-year term in office.

Also elected were Mr. Michael Antwi-Agyei who won the position of Vice-President; Mr. Emmanuel Opare-Djan who was retained, unopposed as National Organiser, and Mr. Jeorge Wilson Kingson who was elected to the newly-created position of Public Affairs Officer.

Declaring the results, the Chairman of the Elections Committee, Mr. Ben Assorow announced that all unopposed candidates had been resoundingly endorsed with a 94% approval rate with a 100% turnout.

Mr. Assorow commended the PRINPAG members and reported that the incoming executives will appoint an Acting Treasurer till nomination is open for an election to elect a substantive Treasurer.

Mr. David Tamakloe congratulated Lawyer Edwin Arthur for his victory and assured him of his support.

On his part, the President-elect, Mr. Edwin Arthur thanked all members for their enthusiasm and overwhelming support at the polls.
