President Akufo-Addo says he will not heed the calls from Ghanaians and his party footsoldiers to reshuffle his current batch of Ministers who have remained at post since 2021.
And according to him, he will not effect the reshuffle because not only are his Ministers performing outstandingly, the calls for reshuffle are likely coming from people with ulterior motives, including those who want jobs.
“The calls come for all kinds of reasons; NDC wanting to destabilise the government is one. There are people who are also looking for jobs.”
The shocking answer was given by Akufo-Addo in an interview on Tamale-based Star Radio.
Aside from not wanting to please NDC and move Ministers out of the way to create jobs for others he also claimed his Ministers have been excellent in office.
“Many of them for me have done outstanding work. Their output has been considerable, and that is what I look at. If the output measures expectations, then I don’t have any strong reasons to heed the call,” President Akufo-Addo added.
His glowing accolade of his ministers is contrary to the reality that they have effectively supervised the economic collapse of Ghana, leading to the country limping to the IMP for a bailout.
Until recently, Akufo-Addo’s ministers included Sarah Adwoa Safo who was in charge of Gender and Social Protection, who abandoned her portfolio for the US in 2021 and has since not returned.
Akufo-Addo’s Ministers also include the corruption scandal-prone Ken Ofori-Atta under whose watch and corruption and the finances of the country had taken a downward spiral.
Since coming to office in 2017, Akufo-Addo has done only one reshuffle, and all were in 2018.
