VALCO’s Acting Executive Director Allegedly Awards 18 Dubious Contracts

Acting Executive Director of the Volta Aluminum Company Limited (VALCO) has reportedly awarded eighteen contracts without approval by VALCO’s Board of Directors.

The allegation surfaced on Monday with popular Onua FM broadcaster, Godsbrain Smart, alias Captain Smart revealing that Mr. Kelvin Kwaku Yeboah, has awarded up to Ghc40million in shady contracts.

The Acting Executive Director is said to have also fired some staff as part of efforts to cover his tracks.

Documents accompanying the allegation list some of the companies as k3 Company Limited, which was awarded a Ghc5,138,437.00 aluminum cladding contract; 3M Enterprise which was awarded a Ghc7,884,482 school under trees contract and Samara Limited and Real Estate Times Limited which were given multiple contracts.

Mr. Smart has questioned whether it is proper for an Acting Executive Director to award contracts.

Eight staff who attempted to blow the whistle are said to have since been sacked.

These staff are said to have since petitioned the National Security Coordinator to investigate the Acting Executive Director.
