Gabby Contradicts Govt Statistician On Inflation For March 2022

President Akufo-Addo’s notorious cousin, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, is claiming that inflation for March 2022 was 27.6%.

This claim contradicts that of government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim who is on record to have said that inflation was 19.4%.

This is what Gabby tweeted about inflation in an emotional blackmail he attempted on Ghanaians for his cousin’s corrupt-ridden government on Twitter: “All items inflation was 7.9% in Dec 2019; 27.6% in March 2022. This is the reality we can’t wish away.”

However, in May, the Government Statistician had reported that the year-on-year inflation for April 2022 had surged to 23. 6 percent compared to 19. 4 percent recorded in March.

Gabby Asare Otchere Darko is not in government and therefore ordinarily, his words would be dismissed against that of the Government Statistician. However, under the Akufo-Addo government, Gabby is considered the de facto “Prime Minister” who controls the President.

Question marks have come to dangle on the inflationary figures that the Statistical Service has been churning out, with many suspecting the Government Statistician has been mollifying the dirty truth that the country is experiencing wildly galloping inflation.

In April, Prof. Annim came under the microscope when a US-based Professor of Applied Economics, Steve Hanke, reported his assessment of inflation in Ghana indicated it was a high as 45.6% rather than the 23.6% reported by Prof. Annim.

Meanwhile, Ghanaians have been blasting Gabby Otchere Darko over his attempted emotional blackmail, with some replying that the time has come for him and his family to speak the truth about millions of dollars that they have corruptly stashed away for themselves.
