CPC Staff Union Declare Managing Director As Persona Non-Grata

Members of the Industrial and Commercial Workers’ Union (ICU) of Ghana at Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) have declared the company’s Managing Director persona non grata.

After rejecting an investigative report on the stewardship of their boss, Nana Agyenim Boateng as a whitewash, the workers union warned that the MD’s safety cannot be guaranteed if he steps on the premises of the company.

Nana Boateng was interdicted for suspected financial malfeasance earlier this year and subjected to a probe by a committee that was set up to look into the matter while a three-member interim management committee was put in place to temporarily manage the company on April 19, 2022.

However, per a letter signed by Acting General Secretary Emmanuel Benimah, the committee’s report supposedly absolving the MD of blame has leaked onto social media.

“We are surprised that, the report that is yet to be validated and signed, has been surreptitiously published by someone to pre-empt any censoring by the aggrieved parties,” the ICU members said in a letter to the Company’s Board Chairman.

It added, “However, we find the conflicting nature of the Investigative Committee’s report which in one breath is condemning the unprofessional attitude of the Managing Director and in the same breath absolving him of his malfeasance, quite interesting. This, to say the least, smacks of insincerity on the part of the Committee.”

Describing the report as “biased” and “twisted” it warned that the MD’s safety cannot be guaranteed in the hands of angry workers if he steps foot on the premises of the company, warning worker agitation is in the winds.

Already, the angry workers have mounted posters on the company premises declaring Nana Agyenim Boateng I unwelcome to the company. One of them reads, “Nana Agyenim Boateng, Never Again!”
